Fortune 100 - Major Manufacturer  - Special Projects Group

Scenario:

Working ConsciouslyTM was brought into a situation concerning a Fortune 100 manufacturer and a special projects group that spanned five subsidiaries and numerous vendor organizations.

The project concerned a huge engineering effort and was created to access the best engineers and management from five different companies in a concentrated effort.

The energy in the early part of Phase One of this project was dynamic, inclusive and creative.   Eventually, this dissipated into conflicts between individuals and companies that locked up communication, creativity and teamwork, freezing progress for a five month period.

Working Consciously was brought in to identify the cause of the lock-up and achieve a breakthrough which would help the participants to resume project efforts to a successful conclusion.

Action:

Our facilitator led the project members through a regular Working Consciously seminar, customized to the group's specific needs.  Within the first ninety minutes, during which there was resistance from members of the group at having to attend this gathering, there was a major discovery made about the mission statement for the project.   The statement was so focused on the technical components of the goal that it had completely left out the human element - both staff and customers - that would provide the impetus for the project’s success.

Near the end of the day, the Working Consciously facilitator instigated three 45 minute break-out sessions,  two of which focused on major areas where there was a deadlock and the third, by request of the participants, to examine and re-work the mission statement.  The group came back together and mutually realized the need to respect the individual talents and professionialism each person was bringing to the project.   Within a short period of time, the group of people who had been unable to work together for five months became a unified team.  The new perspective and “spirit” of the team sustained itself and the project objectives were accomplished without delay from that point forward.
